How to Workout with Minimal Equipment

 

It’s a convenient luxury to have a gym right in your apartment building. Unfortunately, many of those gyms are seriously lacking when it comes to the equipment they offer. That doesn’t need to keep you from working out, though. Despite what many people believe, you don’t actually need a lot of equipment to get in a great workout. You just need to know what workouts you can do. If your gym doesn’t have a great equipment selection, here’s how you can get a good workout in with minimal equipment.

 

Turn It Into a Positive

 

You may feel disappointed that your apartment’s gym doesn’t offer the type of equipment you’d like. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, though. You can use this to your advantage by challenging yourself to step outside of your comfort zone and do exercises you haven’t tried before. If you’ve never stepped foot on a treadmill, now is the perfect opportunity to do so. You can also use it as an opportunity to switch up your workouts more often, which has been shown to be highly beneficial.

 

Strength Train with Weights

 

Even the most basic of gyms likely offer weights. If your apartment’s gym doesn’t include any machines or weight-lifting equipment, try to find dumbells, kettlebells, or medicine balls to work with. There are countless exercises you can do to get or stay in shape that only require an extra weight or two. Simple exercises can be highly effective as long as you have proper form and are challenging yourself with the weights you use and the number of reps you complete.

 

Use Your Body Weight

 

It’s a common misconception that you need fancy equipment to get a good workout in. The truth is, all you truly need to complete a successful workout is your own body weight. If your gym doesn’t offer any additional weights, you can still get in an excellent exercise. You just need to rely on your own body weight. Tried and true favorites like crunches, sit-ups, and push-ups are effective at building muscles and getting you in better shape overall.

 

Your apartment’s gym may not live up to your expectations, but that’s no excuse to skip your workouts. By being creative with your exercises, you can easily perform a fitness routine without the use of unnecessary equipment.
